JEHOVAH-RAAH (THE LORD OUR SHEPHERD)

webmasterLove, Names of God8 Comments

The name “Jehovah” = the redemptive name of deity and means “The self-existent one who reveals Himself.”  There are parallel names of Jehovah that reveal different aspects of God.  Today we are going to discuss one of the Names of God…Jehovah-Raah…The Lord our Shepherd who tenderly loves us, leads us and keeps us safe.

Psalms 23 Amplified

23:1 A Psalm of David.

THE LORD is my Shepherd [to feed, guide, and shield me], I shall not lack.

2 He makes me lie down in [fresh, tender] green pastures; He leads me beside the still and restful waters. [Rev 7:17.]

3 He refreshes and restores my life (my self); He leads me in the paths of righteousness [uprightness and right standing with Him–not for my earning it, but] for His name’s sake.

4 Yes, though I walk through the [deep, sunless] valley of the shadow of death, I will fear or dread no evil, for You are with me; Your rod [to protect] and Your staff [to guide], they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my [brimming] cup runs over.

6 Surely or only goodness, mercy, and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life, and through the length of my days the house of the Lord [and His presence] shall be my dwelling place.

The loving Shepherd has a personal relationship with His sheep…you and me…His believers.  When we know God as our loving Shepherd, we know The One Who leads us, guides us, feeds us and shields us.  We know The One Who will make sure we are not in lack spiritually, physically, mentally and financially as we follow His lead.

I encourage you to stop and take a moment to meditate on Psalms 23.  Now take another few minutes and read Psalms 23 aloud several times.

Next, begin to thank Jesus Christ The Shepherd for all He has done for you.  I believe as you follow through with this exercise, God will reveal to you some periods in your life when you didn’t realize that He was protecting you from some unknown harm.  Thank Him for the times when He removed you from harm’s way…times when You were unaware that He had protected you.

Prayer of Thanksgiving:

Thank You Jesus for leading, guiding, feeding, and shielding me.  Thank You Jesus that when I follow You I will not have any lack.  Thank You for leading me into restful, refreshing places and guiding me into right standing with You!  Thank You for being with me through the dark times in my life.  Thank You for preparing a bountiful table for me in the presence of my enemies.  Thank You for Your Anointing upon my life!  Thank You for “more than enough”!  Thank You for sending me The Holy Spirit…The Helper…Who teaches me all things and brings to my memory all You have said and Who guides me into all truth!  Thank You for the Holy Spirit Who tells me things that are going to happen in the future.  I put my complete trust in You!  Amen.

John 14:26 AMP

26 But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to your remembrance) everything I have told you.

John 16:13 AMP

13 But when He, the Spirit of Truth (the Truth-giving Spirit) comes, He will guide you into all the Truth (the whole, full Truth). For He will not speak His own message [on His own authority]; but He will tell whatever He hears [from the Father; He will give the message that has been given to Him], and He will announce and declare to you the things that are to come [that will happen in the future].

Blessings!

  1. Woah! I’m really digging the template/theme of this blog. It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s difficult to get that “perfect balance” between user friendliness and visual appeal. I must say you’ve done a superb job with this. Additionally, the blog loads extremely fast for me on Safari. Excellent Blog!
