Who Can I Trust?

Today’s benefit is you can put your trust in God. God will direct and make straight and plain paths for you.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)

Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding.

In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.

I received a phone call a gentleman, who I will refer to as Clyde. I hadn’t heard from Clyde in quite some time. During our conversation, Clyde shared an incident that had happened recently.

A Christian gentleman who had known Clyde since he was in high school; approached Clyde and said that God had told him to bless Clyde. Clyde asked the gentleman, “What does that look like?” The gentleman said he was going to buy a house and rent it to Clyde at a greatly reduced price. This would be a great blessing to Clyde and his family.

The gentleman was down to the last steps of purchasing a home on 10 acres when he found out it had six liens on the property. The deal fell through. Although Clyde was disappointed, the gentleman found another home to buy.

This time everything was going so smoothly that Clyde purchased a washer and dryer and some furniture.

Clyde had even set up the date for the cable to be put in. Clyde and his wife had 2/3rd’s of their belongings packed up when the Christian gentleman informed Clyde that this deal had also fallen through. Clyde didn’t want to tell his wife because he knew she would be so upset and greatly disappointed once again.

Clyde thought he could trust him.

The real problem was Clyde found out that the man lied to him and the deal was going through. Clyde thought he could trust this Christian gentleman. After all, it was the gentleman’s idea in the first place.

Now not only disappointed, but angry, Clyde had to return all the furniture and things. Clyde told me he had made the quality decision to forgive the Christian gentleman. As you know unforgiveness hurts you more than the person who hurt you.

This situation was just one of several recent disappointments in Clyde’s life. The sad truth is the only one you can trust in is God! The awesome news is you CAN TRUST GOD!

I believe as Clyde chooses to trust God and gives this over to Jesus, that God has a path that is much greater for Clyde! A path which will bring even greater blessings to him and his family!

God’s will for you is for you to trust Him completely. God tells you not to trust in or rely on your own understanding. There are going to be things you do not understand in this life.

There are going to be people and situations that bring you disappointments. Just like Clyde’s situation. It is beyond understanding why someone would make such a generous unsolicited offer, not follow through and then lie about it.

Take the time now to forgive anyone you need to forgive. Now God can begin working on your behalf.

We Walk By Faith! Not By Sight!

God has a great destiny for you! God has great plans and a future for you! Put your wholehearted trust in Him now and follow His leading even when it doesn’t make sense to your natural mind. We walk by faith! Not by sight!

In the “Forget Not God’s Benefits” series, we are endeavoring to find all of God’s benefits for us so that we can obey and enjoy Psalms 103:2 which tells us to “Bless (affectionately, gratefully praise) the Lord, O my soul, and forget not [one of] all His benefits—”. Today’s benefit is you can put your trust in God. God will direct and make straight and plain paths for you.

It is time to read our passage out loud and to meditate on it. I am anticipating great and awesome end results! READY? READ.

Psalm 103:1-5 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition

Psalm 103
[A Psalm] of David.

1 Bless (affectionately, gratefully praise) the Lord, O my soul; and all that is [deepest] within me, bless His holy name!
2 Bless (affectionately, gratefully praise) the Lord, O my soul, and forget not [one of] all His benefits—
3 Who forgives [every one of] all your iniquities, Who heals [each one of] all your diseases,
4 Who redeems your life from the pit and corruption, Who beautifies, dignifies, and crowns you with loving-kindness and tender mercy;
5 Who satisfies your mouth [your necessity and desire at your personal age and situation] with good so that your youth, renewed, is like the eagle’s [strong, overcoming, soaring]!
