FORGET NOT GOD’S BENEFITS – Day 14

THOUGHTS, IMAGINATIONS & STRONGHOLDS

Did you know your ears are not garbage cans? You have probably heard the old adage, “Garbage in, garbage out.” As a Certified Life Coach and counselor, I have had to tell people that I don’t need all the details. It is unhealthy for any of us to allow satan to plant thoughts that he can use to stir up wrong emotions and actions.

This how satan works. He plants a thought in your head. If you don’t immediately reject satan’s thought by saying, “That is not my thought! I do not take that thought.” you open yourself up to imaginations. One you begin to indulge in imaginations, you are now open to strongholds. A stronghold is where you are no longer in control and have to be set free.

An example of this is: You see an attractive person. Satan plants the thought…your husband/wife doesn’t really get you and this attractive person really gets you like no one you’ve ever met before.

You are now at a crossroads. You choose to begin imagining your life with this attractive person. Before you know it you are in a stronghold. If you don’t immediately seek help to be set from from the stronghold, you are doomed to have an affair with this attractive person. Your marriage is ruined. Your family is broken. Your life and reputation are destroyed. You must seek help and get set free from the stronghold before it destroys your life.

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 King James Version (KJV)

(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

It would be so much easier to stop things as soon as satan plants an ungodly thought in your head! I heard it said, “You can’t keep a bird from flying over your head. But you sure can keep him from landing on your head and building a nest!”

The greatest strategy against the enemy is to:

  • Keep your eyes and ears on God’s Word

  • Speak only God’s Word

  • Be obedient to God’s Word

Here are the words to a song I used to sing in children’s church called, “Oh Be Careful, Little Eyes”. Maybe we need to add this song to the adult church service.

O Be Careful, Little Eyes

From: ChildrensBibleSongs.com

O be careful little eyes what you see

O be careful little eyes what you see

There’s a Father up above

And He’s looking down in love

So, be careful little eyes what you see

O be careful little ears what you hear

O be careful little ears what you hear

There’s a Father up above

And He’s looking down in love

So, be careful little ears what you hear

O be careful little hands what you do

O be careful little hands what you do

There’s a Father up above

And He’s looking down in love

So, be careful little hands what you do

O be careful little feet where you go

O be careful little feet where you go

There’s a Father up above

And He’s looking down in love

So, be careful little feet where you go

O be careful little mouth what you say

O be careful little mouth what you say

There’s a Father up above

And He’s looking down in love

So, be careful little mouth what you say

We are endeavoring to find all of God’s benefits for us so that we can obey and enjoy Psalms 103:2 which tells us to “Bless (affectionately, gratefully praise) the Lord, O my soul, and forget not [one of] all His benefits—”.

Today’s benefit is we can take authority over every thought the enemy brings to us. We just need to cast the thought down and say, “That is not my thought! I do not take that thought! In Jesus Name I  submit to God. I resist you satan and you have to flee!” (James 4:7)

FREEDOM!

It is time to read our passage out loud and to meditate on it. I am anticipating great and awesome end results! READY? READ.

Psalm 103:1-5 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition

Psalm 103
[A Psalm] of David.

1 Bless (affectionately, gratefully praise) the Lord, O my soul; and all that is [deepest] within me, bless His holy name!
2 Bless (affectionately, gratefully praise) the Lord, O my soul, and forget not [one of] all His benefits—
3 Who forgives [every one of] all your iniquities, Who heals [each one of] all your diseases,
4 Who redeems your life from the pit and corruption, Who beautifies, dignifies, and crowns you with loving-kindness and tender mercy;
5 Who satisfies your mouth [your necessity and desire at your personal age and situation] with good so that your youth, renewed, is like the eagle’s [strong, overcoming, soaring]!
