Do you have any disappointments, frustrations, or aggravations today? Have you ever had God give you an instruction that you followed through with but since the other person(s) had the choice to obey or not to obey, you were delayed? Are you in the midst of a horrendous trial? Were you betrayed? Did something happen that totally blindsided you and you are left wondering what just happened? The list could go on and on.

Today I had a few disappointments, frustrations and aggravations. Since I know that God knew these things would take place, I had to choose to trust Him. Now what God?

God is so faithful! As I was pondering what to do next, God spoke to me that my answer was to give Him thanks and to praise Him. I had a choice to make. I could stay disappointed, frustrated and aggravated or I could obey God by giving Him thanks and praising Him. I chose the latter.

Today’s benefit is as you thank and praise God, God brings you the victory!

In this “Forget Not God’s Benefits” series, we are endeavoring to find all of God’s benefits for us so that we can obey and enjoy Psalms 103:2 which tells us to “Bless (affectionately, gratefully praise) the Lord, O my soul, and forget not [one of] all His benefits—”. Today’s benefit is as you thank and praise God, God brings you the victory!

How simple is that? Notice I said “simple”, not “easy”.  The times you need to give thanks and praise the most are the times you may find it most difficult to do so.

You don’t have to thank and praise God “for” the disappointments, frustrations and aggravations. You give God thanks and praise “in” or even “in spite of” the disappointments, frustrations and aggravations! You give thanks to God because He is worthy!

Why? Because you enter into His gates with your thanksgiving and into God’s courts with your praise! Why? Because God inhabits your praises (Psalm 22:3)!

Psalm 22:3New King James Version (NKJV)

But You are holy,
Enthroned in the praises of Israel.

Psalm 100:4 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and a thank offering and into His courts with praise! Be thankful and say so to Him, bless and affectionately praise His name!

All of your answers, directions and victories are in God! When you begin to faithfully give heartfelt thanks and praise to God you position yourself for victory! Even more gratifying, it totally confuses the enemy!

Acts 16:23-26Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)

23 And when they had struck them with many blows, they threw them into prison, charging the jailer to keep them safely.

24 He, having received [so strict a] charge, put them into the inner prison (the dungeon) and fastened their feet in the stocks.

25 But about midnight, as Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God, and the [other] prisoners were listening to them,

26 Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the very foundations of the prison were shaken; and at once all the doors were opened and everyone’s shackles were unfastened.

Paul and Silas were unjustly arrested because they had cast a spirit of divination out of a girl. They were beaten, thrown into prison and fastened in shackles (arms and legs clamped down). The prison was like a dungeon – damp, dark, and filled with the stench of human waste.

In spite of all their discomfort, at midnight, Paul and Silas were heard praying and singing hymns of praise to God when suddenly a great earthquake set them free from their shackles and the doors were opened!

What caused this mighty victory? Paul and Silas knew the secret of rising above their troubles by praying, praising and worshipping God!

I don’t know what trial or situation(s) you are facing right now, but I do know if you will begin to give thanks and praise God, you will gain the victory!

With Thanksgiving and Praise to God,

Pastor Becky Cain
