Today’s benefit is if you don’t get tired of doing what is good, at just the right time, you will reap a harvest of blessings if you don’t give up.

Galatians 6:9 New Living Translation

So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.

I had a job basically rating and policing the internet several years back. Although the policing part of the job was only one part of the job, I am so thrilled to know that there are people out there looking for sites that are supposed to be family friendly but are filled with smut! Part of my job was to report the sites that had inappropriate material.

The downside to the position was I would occasionally come up on some filth that I would have never been exposed to if I wasn’t in the position I was in. As a general rule, men get turned on by sight. Women however do not. So most of the time, it wasn’t a problem for me.

The problem was I quickly found out there are demonic spirits attached to some of the material. I decided that my Heavenly Father had much better for me.  Thankfully today I am free from that position!

Why am I sharing this with you? Because I don’t care how strong of a Christian you may be, there are things you do not need to allow in your ear gate, eye gate, or heart. There are places your feet don’t need to go. There are things you hands have no business doing. There are things that your mouth should not be saying.

Psalm 101:3 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)

I will set no base or wicked thing before my eyes. I hate the work of them who turn aside [from the right path]; it shall not grasp hold of me

The Bible makes it clear that you shouldn’t set any base or wicked thing before your eyes and you should hate the work of them who turn aside from the right path.   You need to be more like Joseph was when Potiphar’s wife a.k.a. Joseph’s Master’s wife wanted to have sex with him. (See Genesis 39) Wikipedia states, Zuleika was the name of Potiphar’s wife in the Bible according to medieval legends. The name is of Arabic origin, meaning “fair; brilliant and lovely”.

Was Zuleika beautiful? We don’t know.  Zuleika obviously thought she had something to offer to Joseph. Zuleika kept putting pressure on Joseph to sleep with her.  Joseph continually turned her down and tried to stay out of her way.

One day when no one was around, Zuleika grabbed Joseph’s cloak and demanded Joseph to sleep with her. Joseph left his cloak in her hands and ran out of the house. Sad to say even though Joseph did the right thing, Zuleika accused Joseph of trying to rape her and Potiphar had Joseph thrown into prison.

I’m happy to say, God honored Joseph for doing the right thing. Joseph eventually became 2nd only to the Pharaoh of Egypt. Pharaoh said, “Only I, sitting on my throne, will have a rank higher than yours.” speaking of Joseph. (Gen.41:40)

So even if you are wrongfully suffering because you did the right thing(s), rest assured, God’s future for you is stellar!

In the “Forget Not God’s Benefits” series, we are endeavoring to find all of God’s benefits for us so that we can obey and enjoy Psalms 103:2 which tells us to “Bless (affectionately, gratefully praise) the Lord, O my soul, and forget not [one of] all His benefits—”. Today’s benefit is if you don’t get tired of doing what is good, at just the right time, you will reap a harvest of blessings if you don’t give up.

It is time to read our passage out loud and to meditate on it. I am anticipating great and awesome end results! READY? READ.

Psalm 103:1-5 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition

Psalm 103
[A Psalm] of David.

1 Bless (affectionately, gratefully praise) the Lord, O my soul; and all that is [deepest] within me, bless His holy name!
2 Bless (affectionately, gratefully praise) the Lord, O my soul, and forget not [one of] all His benefits—
3 Who forgives [every one of] all your iniquities, Who heals [each one of] all your diseases,
4 Who redeems your life from the pit and corruption, Who beautifies, dignifies, and crowns you with loving-kindness and tender mercy;
5 Who satisfies your mouth [your necessity and desire at your personal age and situation] with good so that your youth, renewed, is like the eagle’s [strong, overcoming, soaring]!
