Day 6 with no power due to Hurricane Irma.

Everyone in the house was asleep and I was in prayer Friday morning, September 15, 2017. It had been a long hot week with no air conditioning, no hot water and no way to cook other than grilling. The good news we had no damage to our home or our lives. Thank YOU JESUS!!!

I was thrilled for a moment of solitude which was rare with seven of us in cooped up in our home for basically 7 days. They had asked us to hunker down Saturday night (September 9, 2017) by 5:00 PM as we waited for Irma.

Considering the circumstances, I was totally surprised while praying in the Holy Spirit to hear, “This is going to be a ‘Banner Year’ and you will have a ‘Bumper Crop’.”

I asked myself, “Why was God giving me a word for the year at this moment in time?” It wasn’t even on my radar. Frankly, I just wanted my power turned on! Trying to sleep in an 86 degree and higher  house is quite miserable. I don’t recommend it! I would have been thrilled to hear, “Thus saith the Lord, your power will be turned on in a few minutes”.

Thankfully, I did have the creature comfort of my cell phone working. Many people had cell towers down and couldn’t even text, make phone calls and so forth. My son was one of the people who got their power on within 24 hours, but had little to no cell reception. I’m giving a shout out to SPRINT who removed all data restrictions due to Hurricane Irma. Thank you Sprint! My cell phone was my lifeline. Even though we usually have internet at  home, without electricity, the internet does not work.

Using my phone, the first thing I did was to look up the words “Banner Year”. According to the Oxford Learners Dictionary it means: a year in which something is especially successful

Then I proceeded to research the meaning of “Bumper Crop”. Wikipedia defines “Bumper Crop”: In agriculture, a bumper crop is a crop that has yielded an unusually productive harvest.

It dawned on me that it is indeed September and Rosh Hashana was just around the corner. So I looked up the Jewish Calendar and found out that the Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashana) is September 21 to 22, 2017.

Bottom line if you will receive the Word of the Lord you are going to experience a BANNER YEAR…a year in which everything will be especially successful and you will receive a BUMPER CROP…a crop that will yield an unusually productive harvest! I am calling it a “B & B Year”.

When God gives a word we need to war with it. What do I mean by that? Just like God intended for the children of Israel to possess the Promise Land, He intends for you to have a Banner Year with a Bumper Crop.  Without going into a long discussion, you need to be like the two spies, Caleb and Joshua. Caleb said, “ Let us go up at once and possess it; we are well able to conquer it!”.  The other 10 spies gave what God calls an “evil report”…they said we are not able. Consequently the Israelite’s took an 11 day journey and turned it into a 40 year journey (Deuteronomy 1). God’s intention was for them to possess the land in 11 days!

God’s intention for you is to have a “Banner Year with a Bumper Crop”! YOU MUST TAKE POSSESSION OF YOUR BANNER YEAR WITH A BUMPER CROP!!!

Joshua was 80 years old when he led the Israelite in possessing the Promise Land. Sadly, over twenty years later much of the land had not been possessed.

13 Now Joshua was old and gone far in years [over 100], and the Lord said to him, You have grown old and are gone far in years, and very much of the land still remains to be possessed.

God has done everything He is going to do. It’s our move. Will you be like the two spies, Caleb and Joshua? Or will you be like the unbelieving 10 spies who give an evil report? Will you be like the Israelites who took possession of their portion of the Promise Land? Or will still be waiting for the “Banner Year with the Bumper Crop” to come in October 2019? THE CHOICE IS YOURS!
